A Fanlisting?

According to TFL:

A fanlisting is a web clique that lists fans of a particular subject. Unlike most web cliques, a person does not need a web site in order to join. Fans from around the world submit their information to their approved fanlisting and they are then listed to show their love for the subject.

That's about right, so I didn't think to change it.

Coming of Age

I am like the rest of you: F. Scott Fitzgerald called to mind The Great Gatsby. I read the novel for school, was sure that it was full of great things to say about the American Dream and all that, though what I found most interesting was the cover illustration, complete with naked women for eye color. Fitz's novel just didn't strike a chord with me--though I have to say, judging by a picture in a biography, he made a disturbingly pretty woman. And that was how I carried on for awhile.

But lo! A friend shoved This Side of Paradise into my hands one summer, proclaiming it her very favorite Fitzgerald book that blew The Great Gatsby out of the water. So I read it. A coming-of-age story set in the early 20th century, at Princeton--vaguely familiar, wouldn't you say? Replace 'Amory Blaine' with 'Scott Fitzgerald' and we have an autobiography. But this book does have some of the most quotable moments in it that really convinced me I liked it. (I don't usually do quotes.) "I know myself, but that is all." "I am a cynical idealist." I may not be a rich kid in the Roaring Twenties, but I am disillusioned too! Write a book about me!

On the Small Screen

I had fun with CSS on this layout. Most of the effects came from playing around with margins and borders. The header image was a bit uninspired though--I had one bookcover to work with. Coded in CSS and divs; best viewed in Firefox/IE 7 at 800x600+.
